Free Community Symposium: “Reconciling Pain and Giving Hope to Seniors”The Trager Institute at the University of Louisville (formerly the Institute for Sustainable Health & Optimal Aging) is hosting a community-based symposium entitled “Reconciling Pain and Giving Hope to Seniors” that will focus on providing alternative pain management strategies for older adults. This symposium will take place on May 13th from 10 am – 3 pm in Oldham County at the John W. Black Community Center. This event is held in partnership with the Kentucky Coalition for Healthy Communities (KCHC), Tri-County Community Action Partnership, Barren River Area Development District, and the Kentuckiana Regional Planning and Development District (KIPDA). At this symposium, older adults, caregivers, and healthcare providers will explore the dangers of medication misuse and addition for older adults, alternative solutions to chronic pain management, advocacy needed to make alternative pain strategies accessible for older adults, and related resources.
