Palliative Medicine Fellowship

The University of Louisville Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program is a one-year, post graduate education program for physicals who are interested in learning more about Palliative Medicine in a customizable and interdisciplinary environment. Fellows can choose rotations at either the University Hospital, a Level-One Trauma Center in the region, and the VA Medical Center. Residents in this program are also given ample exposure and experience working with Hosparus, the community hospice organization serving Kentucky and Indiana.

In addition, fellows can choose electives in a variety of areas to expand and deepen their expertise as Palliative medicine practitioners. Example elective topics include: Grief and Bereavement, Chaplaincy, Geriatrics, Medical and Radiation Oncology, Pediatric Palliative Care, Wound Care, Research, and Interventional Pain Management. As well, fellows gain experience in working with interdisciplinary care teams that encompass professional in Medicine, Pharmacy, Bioethics and Medical Humanities, Nursing, Social Work, Chaplaincy, and Psychology.
