Wellness Lifestyle Services: Yoga Classes

Carrie A. Irwin
Classes: Chair-Based Yoga for All Ages

For the first year, Carrie only did Bikram Yoga, and she found amazing relief from her pain and incredible gains in her core strength as well as her ability to concentrate. She also was amazed to find that yoga helped with symptoms of other chronic health issues she have spent a lifetime battling. She soon began to take other hot yoga classes like Power Vinyasa and Yoga Core. She continued to explore and have a regular practice which includes both hot and “room temperature” yoga. She am a devoted practitioner of Hatha, Vinyasa, Bikram, and has started to delve deeper into Yin and Restorative yoga. She has fallen even more in love with yoga; the physical challenges and the flowing poses together create for her an emotional and spiritual process she have come to rely upon.

It became apparent pretty shortly after adding the practice of other yoga styles to her regimen that she loved yoga so much she wanted to expand her knowledge and share her love of yoga. She attended the 230 hour teacher training through Asheville Yoga Center in June of 2016 and immediately began to seek opportunities to teach and share her passion for yoga with others. She also completed her 300 hour teacher training through Asheville Yoga School in May of 2019. She is currently a registered 500 hour experienced yoga instructor (500hr e-RYT) with the Yoga Alliance.

She has been in the social services field working with children and families for over 17 years, with a strong emphasis on training and teaching others, so teaching yoga is a fairly smooth transition in her goal to help others. She loves spending time with her husband, reading, and hiking. She is a mother of two adult daughters and an adult step son. She is a nurturer by nature and looks forward to exploring the benefits of yoga with her students. She believes that what really sold her on yoga was the moving meditation piece of it. She found that she has gained an incredible ability to breathe through just about anything that life throws her way, and she is eager to help others discover this for themselves. She is a 500 hour registered yoga instructor (500hr RYT). She teaches in Louisville-area studios, local companies, as well as offering private and small group lessons. She offers classes that touch upon multiple disciplines of yoga, with strong skills in Vinyasa, Hatha, Fusion Classes, Chair, Restorative, and Yin Yoga
