A Celebration Honoring Older Adults

The Gold Standard of Optimal Aging Award Ceremony celebrates adults, aged 85 years and over, who lead engaged and flourishing lives and inspire those around them with their zest for life. Our honorees are nominated by members of the community, family, friends, colleagues, and businesses. This is an Optimal Aging Month Signature Event organized each year by the University of Louisville Trager Institute Republic Bank Foundation Optimal Aging Clinic to create an age-friendly culture in our community.

This year, the Gold Standard Award Ceremony was held in person with a luncheon at the Kentucky Center for African American Heritage. Each of our thirty-five honorees were celebrated with a Gold Standard of Optimal Aging medal, a certificate, and a boutonniere of flowers. Our honorees were congratulated in person by Mayor Fischer and virtually with video messages from Governor Beshear and UofL Interim President Dr. Lori Gonzalez.

If you would like to honor someone with a Gold Standard Award, check back here in the spring of 2023!
